Chop:
1 head broccoli (or 1/2 head broccoli and 1/2 head cauliflower)
6 green onions
2 stalks celery
Add:
1 cup raisins
3/4 cup slivered almonds
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
3/4 cup red grapes, halved
Mix:
1 tablespoon vinegar
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
Combine:
Vegetable mixture, fruit and seeds mixture, and sauce mixture in either an attractive bowl or a lidded container that can be turned over frequently. Let salad sit overnight in the refrigerator to meld the flavours, turning and/or stirring often.
Makes 6 servings.
Please note that while there are things I could have changed in this recipe to make it conform to my own preferences, I chose to be faithful to present this recipe as I found it. If you'd like to use this recipe but make it more healthy by substituting some ingredient(s), by all means do so! For example, you might prefer to use honey instead of sugar or soy milk instead of cow's milk. Try a homemade or faux version of mayonnaise.
